Wheatley Community Action Group

Wheatley Community Action Group held their first swap shop as part of the county wide event on the 4th of March 2006. They have since held many successful swap shops at the Merry Bells in Wheatley.

Wheatley holds four swap shops during the year. (See CAG list or group web page for details) These have become very popular. Starting at 9.30 in the morning and lasting until 11 o'clock.  This gives people time to come along and browse to see what they would like to take away. Genuinely re-useable items are welcome and can be brought along during the morning, but please bring things before 10:30 so that they have a chance to be taken. Small electrical items with a CE mark will be tested before being offered out.

Volunteers are always needed for this event to help with the flow of people, organise the tables, serve teas and monitor what is taken.

The group has produced a recycling leaflet to keep local residents informed of what they can and cannot recycle and where they can take goods to be recycled - this can be downloaded from the group's web page. www.wheatleycag.org

Visit to Ryton. Looking at the right way to compost.Home composting and reducing food waste

The group is also keen to support home composting and the Love Food, Hate Waste campaign. Wheatley CAG members joined other CAG members for a visit to Organic Garden Ryton to find out all about home composting. They often have a composting or food waste reduction demonstration at their swap shops.
