CAGLeys started in September 2009 and is a community project bringing together a group of local residents from Blackbird Leys in Oxford who want to promote sustainable lifestyles here in our area and learn more about Climate Change. There is a good deal of support for recycling and we have been able to host a Swapshop in our community halls. This has enabled us to link up and in turn support others efforts to recycle, in nursery and school and mental health groups. There is still, plenty of scope for active members to step forward and join in.
As well as the Community Action Group project, CAGleys has also been supported by Catalyst, the communities housing association, with in kind support, room hire for meetings, a free venue for swap shops and printing out flyers and leaflets.

The CAG project and Oxfordshire County Council have supported and helped us to start up the group and improve communication.
ALLOTMENT
Our Allotment is in its second year, with the aim to encourage residents to 'Have a go' at growing fruit and veg and we are starting to clear a patch and have eleven healthy bunches of lavender to support the Bees. We will be selling the lavender from 19 May 2012 at the Clockhouse Open Day.
We donate our fresh fruit and vegetables to the local groups Survivors and the Women's Institute.
We are also interested in doing some 'Guerilla Gardening' in local gardens to get plants and vegetables growing around Blackbird Leys.
We have hosted a film night with a 'Healthy Eating' menu and would like to see more events taking place to promote discussion of Climate Change and sustainable living.

GREEN GYM
With the support of the WI we have led regular walks.
We will begin our 2013 programme on March 23 with a walk from brake hill to Dorchester across the fields along the old Roman paths & bridleways. We will meet at 10.30 for a three hour walk and catch the bus back. Sensible shoes please!
Monthly walks from April to Sept
The following walks are in and around Garsington and Toot Baldon. Our final walk before the winter months is the last Saturday of September. Again, out to Dorchester (on the bus) with picnic lunch in the abbey and walking home over the fields and Roman road, back to Blackbird Leys.
