Despite heavy rain the CAGs taking part in the Big Lunch, an Eden Project's initiative, were not deterred and a good time was had by all.

Charlbury Area Waste Action Group and the other groups taking part in Charlbury were fortunate to be able to move into the Memorial Hall to keep dry. Both the smoothie maker and the locally produced pig roast were comfortable huddled under gazebos in the car park. Morris men entertained the crowd with a selection of energetic dances. There was an amazing spread of home grown or locally produced food which everyone enjoyed.

Dean Court's take on The Big Lunch was The Modest Picnic, so when it rained it wasn't the end of the world - or even the picnic.
Priscilla said, "We were made welcome in our local Social Club premises, where Paul got everyone involved in making butter for the fantastic array of home-made breads, Ed demonstrated making delicious lemonade, and Margaret played her Peruvian harp. Maggie had cooked up a magnificent Chinese storm and Peter thought we had too many puds, so I photographed him looking very happy by Karyn's famous cakes."

All those taking part in Wolvercote managed to dodge the showers by sheltering under lots of green umbrellas or the Plough's awnings. The children did not seem to mind the weather and had a great time on the bouncy castle, having their faces painted or visiting the big blue bus.
Robert and Yvonne Longstaff had an amazing array of vegetables grown in a selection of containers, just to show people you do not need a large garden to grow your own.
Simon Kenton, CAG Project Manager and organiser of the Wolvercote event said, "It's all about getting people together, to shop locally as well as encouraging them to join local groups, such as allotment associations."
