CAGs held a number of different reuse activities during the European Week of Waste Reduction (EWWR), 20th – 27th November 2010. The EWWR aims to inform large numbers of European citizens about the simple actions that they can take in everyday life to contribute to waste reduction efforts. The week targets public authorities across Europe and engages them in awareness raising actions on waste prevention.
Oxfordshire County Council working in partnership with the CAG project, was fortunate in securing extra funding to enable groups to stage a number of exciting workshops with specialist tutors.
Creative Jewellery Workshop
Kindlington vs Climate Change hosted a recycling jewellery workshop on Saturday 20th November 2010. Sarah Millin brought along a selection of reclaimed scrap, metals, straws, buttons and even sweet wrappers that were expertly crafted into bangles and necklaces and items suitable for Christmas decorations.



Natural Decorations
Barracks Lane Community Garden hosted a Natural Decorations workshop on Tuesday 23rd November 2010. Norah Kennedy, willow worker, demonstrated how to make a selection of garlands, hearts, stars and wands for Christmas decorations, then particpants took over to produce a selection of very professional decorations.



Refashioning Workshop
Charlbury Area Waste Action Group hosted a refashioning workshop on Wednesday 24th November 2010. Darryl Black showed particpants how to make a beret from cast off jumpers and bags from lighter weight 'T' shirts. Christine from CAWAG had managed to collect a selection of jersies that were on their way to the rag man, but still looked very presentable, for particpants to cut up and produce some amazing items.



Gifts for All
Bullingdon CAG held a "Gifts for All" workshop on Saturday 27th November 2010. Dorieanne Lalor had looked at varies items that were available from Orinoco and particpants made belts from bike, inner tubes, tetrapac wallets, bird feeders from old plastic bottles and also made some exquisite covered booklets.
