Spring foraging sessions led by Romily Swann* (booking required), cooking demonstrations with Helen Osborn, storytelling and children’s activities.
There will be two foraging sessions: 10:30am-12:45pm & 3pm-4:45pm. Numbers limited to 25 per session. £5 per person (suggested minimum donation per person for the foraging sessions). The foraging sessions are open to children 8 years and over with parent/carer supervising.
Programme
10:30am-11:00am Intro to foraging talk (including ethics of foraging & relevant laws)
11:00am – 12:45pm 1st Foraging session. Romily will lead the group into a nature reserve near the garden to forage.
12pm-1pm Cooking demonstration – cooking local seasonal spring vegetables on open fire.
12pm-3pm Children’s activities: make your own spring green mask
1:00pm - 2:30pm Cooking and eating foraged food
2:30-3pm Storytelling, with continuing children’s activities
3pm-4pm cooking on open fire.
3:00pm - 4:45pm Intro to foraging talk then 2nd foraging session
5pm Garden closes
*Romily Swann is a trained botanist and botanical illustrator. She currently works for the Earth Trust, taking children and adults out to acquaint them with the natural world.
