Community Action Groups
Local permaculture gardener Fiona Mullins has started a time bank in East Oxford and hopes to initiate others across Oxfordshire. Come and hear how this forms part of our local eco-system of community action, building community resilience, sharing skills, bridging age and culture divides.
About Time Banks
Time banks are community based projects that meet everyday needs through the exchange of time and skills. For every hour you spend helping someone, you are entitled to an hour’s help in return. The time bank creates a mutually supportive network of neighbours helping neighbours. The help provided might be practical tasks such as gardening, befriending, running errands, providing transport or helping someone learn a new skill. Organisations are also joining to offer time credits to the people who volunteer to help.
