Description

Woodstock Community Woodland – First Planting Ceremony

Monday 4th October 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Woodland Site north of Hill Rise Woodstock

The committee of the Woodstock Community Woodland cordially invite you to join with us for the official "First Planting" for the new woodland site.

The first tree will be planted by His Grace the Duke of Marlborough who has generously allowed the use of Blenheim Estate land for this project. We will then invite the following representatives to plant trees:-

Cllr Julian Cooper, Town Mayor of Woodstock

Mr Peter Jay, Chairman of Woodstock @ 900

Cllr Ian Hudspeth on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council

A representative from Sustainable Woodstock

A representative from Woodstock Probus Club

The Mock Mayor of Old Woodstock Mr Andrew Davy

Two prize winners from a competition run by the Oxfordshire Woodland Project

Representatives from the schools may attend or we may organise a separate planting day for them.

We hope to engage the interest of the press and to invite others from the town and beyond to join us. We anticipate the ceremony will last about one hour.

The site is immediately to the north of the town just beyond Hill Rise and on the left hand side of the A44 going north. This is a fast stretch of road. We hope to have police support on the day but please park only in the Hill Rise Service Road and take particular care when crossing the main road. Please bring sensible footware as the ground is uneven and may be wet!

Please join us.
