| Introduction to Community Action Groups
(CAGs) |
CAG Oxfordshire is a network of local Community Action Groups (CAGs) working to increase awareness of waste issues and the ways to reduce the amount of resources that are thrown away. Tackling rubbish positively!! By raising awareness of - Reducing, Reusing and Recycling the groups are helping to empower people to be better stewards of natural resources. This all helps to reduce the amount of rubbish we send to landfill which helps meet Council targets in waste management. It also helps to reduce our carbon footprint and thus reduce our impact on climate change. There are currently twenty three CAGs in Oxfordshire. Each CAG is unique, but all
are run by local volunteers who organise events and initiatives to reduce, reuse or recycle rubbish (waste) in their community. The
CAG project provides support for community events and initiatives
that help to reduce waste. If you are interested to learn more please contact the project concact: Simon or telephone 07793 647190 |

There are lots of things we can do to reduce, reuse and recycle more!
Get involved. Join a CAG to find out more about what you can recycle.

| What do CAGs do? |
| Community Action Groups all vary and have their
own unique way of promoting reduction, reuse and recycling of waste. Activities
so far have included holding Swap Shops, producing local Recycling
Directories, holding Junk Art events, promoting use of recycling
facilities in their area, setting up community composting facilities,
producing and promoting the use of bags for life, organising for local residents
to take part in a litter pick, working with schools and local people
to help aid an understanding of the waste problem and some of the solutions
the list goes on! Have a look at some of the CAGs pages to get more ideas! |
