Waste Reduction Week brings skills to Oxfordshire

The European Week for Waste Reduction saw over 90 people come together to learn skills for reducing waste and saving money over Christmas.

Five workshops across Oxfordshire run by Community Action Groups showed how to make original and quality gifts from used materials such as willow, old clothes, beads, old jewellery and even bicycle inner tubes, all which would have otherwise been thrown away. Another workshop covered cooking with leftovers, helping cut down on food bills as well as waste.

The attendees can now take their newfound skills into their communities, and groups will be hosting follow-up workshops to spread the knowledge and get others involved!

Already organised are workshops in Barton on Saturday 3 December and in South Oxford on Saturday 17 December, with more to follow.

If you are interested in finding out about any follow-up workshops, or have skills which you feel could be useful to communities, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
