Bicester Reuse Centre gets green light

Funding has been secured to develop the idea of a reuse centre in Bicester. The successful proposal was to provide a multifunctional reuse and repair center operating on a social enterprise model with a community interest company and a trading arm.

The project was developed by Cherwell District Council, Oxfordshire County Council and the Community Action Group Project, with the £40,000 funding for a one year post to take the idea forward provided by Eco Bicester.

In 2011 Community Action Group Grassroots Bicester conducted a feasibility study looking at existing shops and services in Bicester, including the charity shops, and concluded that there was a role for a reuse centre to provide a complimentary facility to those currently opperating.
