Dorchester Carbon Project
- Living Lightly in Dorchester

The aim of the Dorchester Carbon Project is to dramatically reduce the emission of CO2 and other green-house gases produced by the residents of the parish of Dorchester

Background

The effects of global warming will be devastating for many parts of the world and hugely costly and disruptive for individuals, families, communities and government in the UK. A dramatic reduction in the emission of carbon dioxide and other green-house gases may slow global warming and eventually stabilise the climate at a tolerable level. To achieve this requires action at all levels of society and industry globally. The Dorchester Carbon Project was established to expedite this action within our own community.

Aims and Objectives

The members of the Dorchester Carbon Project intend that this should be achieved by a wide variety of measures including but not limited to public education to affect personal and home behaviour, re-use and recycling initiatives, capital energy efficiency or clean energy generation projects, the lobbying of local government and the targeting of school pupils and other community groups to influence residents’ behaviour.
