Wheatley held their first swap shop as part of the county wide event on
the 4th of March 2006. They have since held many successful swap shops at the Merry Bells in Wheatley.
Wheatley holds four swap shops during the year. (See CAG list for details) These have become very popular. Starting at 9.30 in the morning and lasting until 12 o’clock gives people more time to come along and browse to see what they would like to take away. Useable items are welcome and can be brought along during the morning, it is best to have items in the hall by 11am so there is plenty of time for selection. By increasing the time and reorganising the tables the crowding situation has been eased and there is a continuous input and outtake of items. Volunteers are always needed for this event to help with the flow of people, organise the tables, serve teas and monitor what is taken. The group is working on a recycling leaflet to keep local residents informed of what they can and cannot recycle and where they can take goods to be recycled. Home composting The group is also keen to support home composting. Wheatley CAG members joined other CAG members for a visit to Organic Garden Ryton to find out all about home composting. Anybody wanting information on this should contact the CAG project. |
