Community Action Groups - CAG Oxfordshire
Witney Waste Action Group - Witney-WAG

Witney WAG (formerly Woodgreen Area WAG) holds lots of events, attends fairs and communicates with the local community in as many ways as possible. The group has lots of energy and enthusiasm for waste reduction hodling green shredding events, talking to groups and to children's clubs, informing people about alternative ways of dealing with their waste - such as green cones, composting, wormery and much more!

This group formed at the beginning of 2004 and has since organised a regular community collection and shredding morning for green waste.

Green waste events

The green waste collections have proved very popular with the local population and thanks to help and support from West Oxford District Council (WODC) the event takes place in the council car park every month.

The CAG provides a man with a shredder who turns the 'waste' into a valuable mulch for the garden. These events turn a problem - green waste to be thrown away' into a solution - a nutritious mulch for the garden.

WODC provide a van on the morning for other green waste to be taken away to Worton farm where it is turned into peat-free compost.
