ENERGY, WASTE, FOOD, TRANSPORT, EDUCATION

Low Carbon Marston (LCM) is an environmental group in Marston, Oxford, working towards building a sustainable, connected and resilient community, in light of the declared climate emergency. Our projects include support for residents to:

Use renewable energy and improve energy efficiency (e.g. informational resources and examples to view in members’ homes);

Reduce plastic use (e.g. our Refill Station for eco-friendly cleaning and toiletry products, and our Eco Party Kit providing reusable instead of disposable supplies);

Choose active transport (e.g. our Bike Doctor repair sessions, and advocacy for safe cycle and pedestrian paths);

Reduce environmental damage from litter/pollution (e.g. Marston Wombles litter-picking group);

Participate in the circular economy (e.g. our Repair Cafes, Book Swap shelf, and the Giving Garage for passing items on or lending equipment); and

Reduce food waste and share free food with those who need it (e.g. the community larder on Saturday mornings, with donations from supermarkets and sometimes from Marston Community Growing).

The main base is the Marston Eco Hub (at the Marston Vicarage, Elsfield Rd), and many LCM activities operate with the active support of Revd Skye Denno and volunteers from St Nicholas Church.
