OXFORDSHIRE DOUGHNUT ECONOMICS COLLABORATION

Food, Waste, Biodiversity, Education, Energy, Housing and Planning
How can Oxfordshire become home to thriving communities in thriving places, while respecting the wellbeing of all people and the health of the whole planet?
Doughnut Economics sets out to help us answer this question together. It is proving to be an inspirational framework worldwide for transformative action, addressing how we can meet both our local social and environmental needs and our global responsibilities. Developed in Oxford by Kate Raworth, there is increasing momentum for the adoption of Doughnut Economics in Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire is ideally placed to explore these new ways of thinking, with a wealth of knowledge and resources. We have the means and ideas to address our urgent local challenges – as one of the most unequal and nature-depleted places in the UK – and also meet our global responsibilities towards the crisis in planetary health and the wellbeing of societies worldwide.
The Oxfordshire Doughnut Economics Collaboration (ODEC) is a community-led open network of change makers with a shared vision for a thriving Oxfordshire where all people flourish within planetary boundaries. ODEC was set up to democratise a response to the multiple social and environmental crises that result from our current way of life, and interconnect the transformative actions already happening on the ground.
ODEC convenes workshops using a Doughnut Economics framework, supports communities and groups wishing to take this approach, and collaborates on projects across sectors and silos for a thriving Oxfordshire.
