Transition Lighthouse focuses on advocacy, activism, and therapeutic services to African diaspora communities in Oxfordshire.
We organise the WOW (Women Of the World) Space in Blackbird Leys Community Centre. This is a self-referred space offering migrant women who have survived FGM, domestic violence and other trauma the opportunity to build friendships and foster their wellbeing.
Through the WOW Space we are setting up an African and Caribbean Community Market in the Blackbird Leys neighbourhood. The women using the space will run stalls selling food, fashion products, clothes and other items. If it is successful, in the future we would like to set it up as a co-operatively run market with more vendors involved.
