Wild About Risinghurst (WAR) is a community lead group set up in 2021 in response to the decline in wildlife and wild spaces locally

Our aim is to improve the natural environment of Risinghurst, taking small, significant steps to make the neighbourhood a greener and more wildlife friendly place. We aim to create more wild spaces, providing wildlife habitats for birds, insects and mammals. To achieve this we engage residents in various activities both in their own gardens and in the wider spaces in our local area.

We work collaboratively with Beautiful Barton and Naturehood Sandhills plus local councillors and business. Our activities include: community bug house making, seed planting, tree planting, food production , nature days, film nights and much more. Currently our time to taken with Frog and Toad patrols when the weather is suitable. We help them across the roads to their breeding ground on CS Lewis Reserve. We also looking after our planter garden and planting hedging. Always lots to do! New members always welcome.
