These guides and resources are here to support your projects and events. We have grouped them by the themes we deliver our collaborate groups as this hopefully covers most of the activities members deliver. Follow the links in orange to the guides and toolkits. Trees

The Woodland Trust, The Tree Council, and The International Tree Foundation are all sources of advice and information, as well as offering grant funding and/or free trees.

The Urban Tree Manual includes advice on selecting the right tree for the right place for anyone wanting to plant a tree in an urban area, from community groups to Local Authorities.

Harvest at Home has produced a simple step-by-step guide to planting a tree with accompanying videos.

The Conservation Volunteers Handbook is a more in-depth guide to tree planting and aftercare, including sources of grant funding, training and suppliers.

The Tree Council have produced a guide to growing trees from seed and the Community Tree Nursery Collaborative offer information and support to those thinking of setting up a tree nursery.

Discover your local Tree Equity Score, a free map created to help address inequities in tree distribution by identifying the areas in greatest need of investment in trees.

Become a Tree Guardian or start a Community Tree Project via Climate Action Oxfordshire.

The Garden Tree Giveaway is a joint project between CAG Oxfordshire and the International Tree Foundation offering native trees to members of the public on a pre-order basis and via community larders and food banks during National Tree Week. Please get in touch if you would like to help as a community tree distributor or can support us with funding.

Nature's Recovery
Oxfordshire organisations and projects

See the Oxfordshire Nature Recovery Support Directory to identify the types of support available from organisations within Oxfordshire.

The Oxfordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS), launched in 2025 is a tool to help restore nature and includes a habitat map, species priorities and user guides.

The Oxfordshire Local Nature Partnership (OLNP) is an organisation of key partners working together to enhance nature. Their three focus areas are Nature Finance, Nature Recovery and Nature and Health.

The Oxfordshire Nature Project works with parishes and community groups to help develop plans for nature recovery.

Local organisations Wild Oxfordshire and Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) provide support and advice to community groups.

BBOWT offers a Community Toolkit and Network, including monthly online meet-ups and regular events.

The Oxford Nature Park is a project aiming to map all of the green and blue spaces across the county to make them visible to everyone.

The Oxford Nature Network of The University of Oxford run events and highlight the latest nature research.

Thames 21 and The Freshwater Habitats Trust both work locally to restore and look after rivers and water for people and nature.

Become a local wildlife volunteer with Oxford Conservation Volunteers, Oxford City Wildlife Volunteers or Oxfordshire County Council

The Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment is a key funding organisation for nature recovery projects within the county, working with community groups, landowners and developers.

National organisations and projects

The University of Derby have developed a Nature Connection Handbook, a guide to increasing people’s connection to nature.

National charity Hubbub offers a Community Nature Network with an online forum, resources and a map you can add your project and events to.

Naturehood, a community project by Earthwatch Europe supports a number of local groups and offers free resources for group leaders, including activities for groups.

The Wildlife Gardening Forum, The Wildlife Trust, We Are The ARK and Blue Campaign provide information and resources around gardening for wildlife
