We have a fantastic selection of workshops and training courses aimed at those volunteering and taking leadership roles within community groups in Oxfordshire.
You asked and we listened. Our recent members survey and feedback from around our network pointed towards sessions on 'Sharing the Load' encouraging a more collborative approach to running your groups, running effective meetings, making decisions and managing conflict plus sessions on Equality Diversity and Inclusion.

All sessions are FREE (or require a refundable deposit) to participants who are CAG members or are running community action groups in Oxfordshire. CAG Oxfordshire is a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society and would welcome any donations for our costs. Details in the booking pages.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion Workshops
Race, Identity and Belonging
Sunday 2nd February, 10am-12pm, The Source, Floyds Row, Oxford, OX1 1SS
The session will use creative mediums of other people’s words combined with Euton’s own experience alongside some initiatives happening in Oxford to make a case for a different approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) - One not of writing policies and employing EDI personnel but taking action.
Psychological Safety: Building Trust and Fostering Open Communication in the workplace

Psychological safety is a shared belief held by members of a team that it’s okay to take risks, express their ideas and concerns, speak up with questions, and admit mistakes – all without fear of negative consequences.Â
This engaging workshop will shape your understanding of psychological safety and provide you with a practical understanding of its implementation.

Session 1: Running Good Meetings

Know that feeling of being stuck in a meeting which seems to be going nowhere? Are you trying your best to get your group to work together, but hitting some snags? If this resonates, boosting your facilitation skills might be just what you need.
Session 2: Group Decision Making
Tuesday 25 February 2025, Â 6-8pm, Online via Zoom
Join us to explore democratic decision-making methods such as consent and consensus. Discover practical tools to guide groups towards shared agreements while fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and fairness in decision-making processes.
Sessions 3 & 4: Generative Conflict: Turning Group Tensions into Constructive Growth
Tuesday 11th and 25th March, 6-8pm, Online via Zoom (please book both sessions)
Every group encounters tension, but how we respond makes all the difference. Conflict doesn’t have to divide us—it can strengthen our teams and communities when managed effectively. Join us for two interactive sessions on harnessing the power of conflict to foster collaboration, understanding, and growth within your group or organisation.
Sharing the Load: Stregthening your Community Group through Collaborative Leadership
First session: Tuesday, 4th March 2025, 6:30-9:00 PM (in-person in Oxford).
Remaining sessions: Tuesdays (1st April, 6th May, 3rd June, 1st July, 5th August 2025), 7:00-9:00 PM (online).
Booking Deadline: midnight on Sunday 16th February 2025.
Purpose of the programme
Equip CAG members with tools and skills to support others to take on more leadership within their groups and in doing so support their groups to become more resilient.
Create a peer space to support community organisers who feel isolated, helping them feel more connected and supported in their mission.
Target Audience
Community organisers within the CAG network and those running Community Action Groups in Oxfordshire who:
Feel they’re carrying the majority of the workload in their group.
Struggle to recruit or engage committee members.
Are looking to step out of their group but are unsure how to do so responsibly or share responsibilities more effectively.
Course Guide
The programme will run over 6 sessions, one per month, between March and August 2025.Â
We will explore topics including:Â
Alternative Governance Approaches:Â Moving beyond traditional roles like chair, treasurer, and secretary.
Gradually Increasing Leadership:Â Empowering people to take on increasing responsibility within the group.
Addressing Barriers to Involvement:Â Creating inclusive spaces by exploring power dynamics and hierarchies.
Onboarding & Support Systems:Â Designing a welcoming and supportive "user experience" for new members.
Building an Inclusive Communication Culture:Â Fostering open and inclusive communication within the group.

Each participating group will be offered a free mentoring session with the facilitators from Transition Together. Participants will also be invited to join Vive, an online platform, to enable them to connect with other participants between sessions
